Christopher was born in Townsville, Australia in 1972. His fascination with photography and art started at a young age, influenced by his Italian father, Peter Tovo, a photographer trained in Italy under Fornasa Tarcisiso. Christopher’s curiosity grew with his father’s camera collection, leading to an early exploration of photography.

Christopher attended photography school briefly but preferred apprenticing, which provided a practical education. His first love was street photography, a training ground that immersed him in foreign communities and ignited a passion for capturing humanity. This foundation informs his instinctive approach, seeking timelessness in diverse situations. His ability to engage with subjects and environments is evident in his diverse portfolio.

Christopher has had a successful career as a commercial photographer, working with clients such as Disney, Rolling Stone, Nike, The Australian Ballet, Coca-Cola, Foxtel, Universal Records, Levi’s, Vodafone, Jack Daniels, The Australian Defence Force, Canon, Commonwealth Bank, Ford Motors, Qantas, Holden, Uber Eats, and Adidas. His lens has captured iconic images of some of the world’s most recognizable faces, including Cher, Sacha Baron Cohen, Paris Hilton, Kendall and Kris Jenner, Jason Alexander, Serena Williams, Tom Felton, Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Snoop Dogg.

His career has been featured in Australian Photography Magazine, and he has spoken at various educational institutions. Christopher has received numerous awards, including honorable mentions at the International Photography Awards, a grand clio, highly commended ADMA, fashion and travel photographer of the year by Capture Magazine, and a Gold Lion at Cannes for his work on the RSL “Minute of Silence” campaign. He was a finalist in the National Portrait Prize and has been commissioned by the Vatican to photograph Pope John Paul II.

He made his directorial debut with “The Tradesman Series,” earning accolades at the One Show Awards in NYC and other film festivals. His recent accomplishments include a Gold Pencil at the One Show Awards and being named Australia’s #1 ranked black and white photographer by EYE ONELAND.
